Escaping Reality
In this painting, there is an unidentifiable woman surrounded by abstract figures. This represents the feeling of being surrounded by people that you do not relate to and feeling unseen by those same people. The figuring walking out of the woman’s head represents her inner self is trying to escape her body. I did this to emphasize that when you are surrounded by people who don’t see you for the person you identify as, you begin to lose yourself. Sometimes to a point where you no longer recognize who you are anymore. At some point you have to chose to leave the people that make you feel this way, so you can reconnect with your identity. The process is extremely difficult and isolating in itself, but reconnecting with your identity is so much more valuable.
